St. Maria Sorrowful Mother is the Roman Catholic parish church in the Hahn district in the Kornelimünster/Walheim district of the city of Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia. The parish includes the Friesenrath branch with the St. Bernhard Chapel.
A chapel in Hahn was first mentioned in 1261. This chapel was already dedicated to Mary, Mother of God. In 1280, Johann von Frankenberg and his wife donated their tithes of land, meadows and forests to the chapel. At the same time, the abbot of the Kornelimünster Imperial Abbey transferred a courtyard to the chapel so that a monk from the monastery could live on site and provide pastoral care there. Monks from Kornelimünster looked after the Hahn chapel community until the imperial abbey was dissolved in 1795.
In 1804 Hahn was made an independent parish. Since then, Friesenrath has also been a branch of the parish.
In 1880 the old medieval church, which became a parish church in 1804, was demolished. By 1881, today's parish church was finally built according to plans by the Cologne diocesan master builder Vincenz Statz. In 1989 and 1990 the exterior of the church building was completely renovated.
