In contrast to most routes in the High Fens, dogs are allowed here.

If you come along the route, you do not really expect this part of moorland and heath .. and is positively überracht the changing appearance of the environment.

Very beautiful heather-moor nature reserve. The nature reserve is an old cultural area that was created through intensive sheep grazing and is now to be preserved. In autumn the blooming heather is an absolute eye-catcher. Very nice in combination with the birch trees and the sometimes overpowering bracken.
The paths through the moor run over footbridges.

The Struffelt is a nature reserve of heath and moorland near Rott, a district of Roetgen in the Aachen region in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Struffelt belongs to the nature park High Venn-Eifel. The Struffelt (450 m) has very nutrient-poor loamy soil. Overlooking the surrounding area by some 100 meters, the clouds coming in from the west are raining here. On average, an annual precipitation of around 1100 mm is measured.

The first stage of the Eifelsteig runs through the Struffelt. Although we have gone this part a few times, it is always nice again. Above all, every weather here has its charms, even in the rain ... even the children like it very well.

The Struffelt is a nature reserve of heath and moorland above Rott, a district of Roetgen in the city region of Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Struffelt belongs to the nature park High Venn-Eifel.

The name is the Struffeltkopf (450 m above sea level NHN) with very nutrient-poor loamy soil. Overlooking the surrounding area by some 100 meters, the clouds coming in from the west are raining here. On average, an annual precipitation of around 1100 mm is measured.

Already on the cards of Tranchot and v. Müffling (1803 to 1804) is the Struffelt registered as a heathland. Due to nutrient depletion and high precipitation, reforestation efforts were in vain, despite the still existing dewatering trenches.

Probably the most beautiful section of the first stage of the Eifelsteig. Just nice to hike in the late fall over the boardwalks of the Struffelt.

Part of the 1st stage of the Eifelsteig. A highlight in every season. The NSG should only be accessed via the walkways.

Very beautiful heather and moor landscape. It is very nice to walk over the footbridges and to marvel at the many flowers and ferns to the left and right of the path.

In addition to the heathland and moorland, you suddenly have forest growth again. Nice variety ..
