Pedro IV Square, better known by its old name Rossio, is a square located in the Baixa, the nerve center of Lisbon for several centuries. Trials, shows, festivals, military parades and autos-da-fé took place there during the Inquisition. In Roman times there was a circus.

From this square you have beautiful views all over around. Here there is theater (Teatro Nacional D. Maria II), a fountain and the statue of the King Dom Pedro IV. During the Christmas season there is an open-air market.
