Impressive view over the almost endless forests of the upper Bruchetal from the upper castle. The castle is five kilometers northwest of Oberhaslach at an altitude of 550 meters on the slope of the Bärenberg on a steep rhyolite rock above the Haseltal. Immediately below is the 25 meter high Nidecker waterfall (Cascade du Nideck).

Burg Niedeck is well known in Alsace the legend
The height where once stood the castle of the giants;
She herself has now fallen, the place desolate and empty,
You ask for the giant, you can not find it anymore.

Very good view from the upper part of the ruin. However, I would only recommend the way to the upper part if you have good grip and no fear of heights. I would have my concerns with children or the elderly. I would rather recommend the direction of the Hirschfelsen, a comparable view, less activity and less "crawling".
