Terrific wild cats - a great experience in the animal sanctuary of the National Park! Due to the special arrangement of the enclosure, you can watch these animals closely, as they roam through the wilderness, go hunting, or simply indulge their play instinct. Exciting experience in any case

The wild cats show themselves quite often and creep slowly through the enclosure; The enclosure is relatively large, but still so small that you do not need binoculars for it.

The occurrence of the European Wildcat (Felis silvestris silvestris) in the Bavarian Forest has been extinguished for almost 170 years; However, as part of the photo trap monitoring, wild-colored cats have been observed in the national park area for five years with increasing frequency. According to experts, these animals show all the external characteristics of real wildcats, but a clear genetic detection was still pending. With the use of valerian baited bait sticks, it was now possible for the first time to collect hair samples that were unequivocally identified as wildcat hair by the Department of Wildlife Genetics of the Senckenberg Museum. According to the German Red List, wild cats are considered endangered, in Bavaria they are threatened with extinction.
