The Petřín (Petřínská rozhledna) observation tower is located on the Petřín hill, 318 meters high, in the Malá Strana district of the Czech capital, Prague. The 63.5 meter high tower was opened on the occasion of the industrial exhibition on August 20, 1891 as a miniature replica of the Paris Eiffel Tower and provides a comprehensive view of Prague and the surrounding area.

The tower can be reached on foot via a 45-minute ascent through the park or in about ten minutes with the Petřín funicular. In order to reach the top of the two viewing platforms, 299 steps have to be negotiated on a double-flighted spiral staircase in the form of a double helix. Each separate staircase is intended for ascent and descent. There is an elevator available, but not always in operation.

The 63.5 m high tower was built in 1891 for the World's Fair. He is with the mountain on which he stands, as high as the Eiffel Tower itself.

You already have a great view from the first platform, but it's worth it to go all the way up

The observation tower on Mount Petřín, one of the undeniable dominants of Prague, was built on the occasion of the World Fair in 1891 as a copy of the Paris Eiffel Tower. It is 63.5 meters high and has 299 steps leading to its peak, which is just as high above sea level as the real Eiffel Tower. You have not only a view of the whole of Prague, but in clear weather almost all over Bohemia.

The 60m high observation tower looks like a miniature version of the Paris Eiffel Tower. Those with a head for heights can climb 299 steps to enjoy Prague from a bird's eye view. The neighboring pavilion houses a mirror labyrinth.

One of many highlights in Prague you should have seen. The best thing to visit in the afternoon is the sun in your back and you can take beautiful pictures of the city.

Petrin Tower is a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but one fifth of the size. 299 steps to the top for the most stunning views of Prague (Praha in the Czech language). Cost of entrance is 150 CZR (Czech crowns which is about £4.50 or €5. Well worth the admission fee). There are pleasant gardens all around (Petrin Gardens) and you can have your refreshments or meals at restaurants with the most stunning views. There is also a funicular railway to the top, but it was out of order in the summer of 2019. However, the walking path to the tower is worth the walk with many statutes of poets and artists on the way...and great views. Highly recommended.

The 63.5 meter high tower was opened on the occasion of the industrial exhibition on August 20, 1891 as a scaled-down replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The viewing platform with a great view over the city can be reached via 299 steps.

From the tower at the top of Petrin you have an amazing view over the city. You can walk or take the elevator. The entrance fees are moderate.
We recommend the cable car up the Petrin, which you can use with a public transport ticket.

If you have a head for heights, you should definitely go up. Attention, the lift was out of order on July 22.
