Stob Dubh is one of the two Munro tops of Buachaille Etive Beag, a long ridge lying between Glen Coe and Glen Etive in the Scottish Highlands. The higher of the two peaks, Stob Dubh reaches 3,143 feet (958 m) and is set in an extraordinarily dramatic landscape with crashing valleys, stunning mountain passes and giant neighbouring peaks.
There are two main ways to reach Stob Dubh’s outstanding summit. The easiest route is from Glen Coe, which has a car park at the trailhead. The path leads you up to the bealach from which you can summit Stob Coire Raineach first, or leave it until last. You can also ascend from Glen Etive to the south, where there’s a car park at Dalness.
From the summit, the views west to the Bidean massif are spectacular, but everywhere rise stunning peaks, towering above green valleys. The terrain offers strenuous but straightforward going in good weather. Keep an eye on the conditions as you go, they can change quickly.

Stob Dubh is a 3,143-foot (958 m) Munro summit in the Scottish Highlands. It's part of the Buachaille Etive Beag, which means Little Herdsman of the Etive in Gaelic. The mountain is a joy to climb and views across Glen Coe are tremendous.

There are some spectacular views from here all across Glencoe. The summit itself is topped by a small cairn.

The flat summit itself is quite unspectacular and only a pile of stones marks the highest point. However, the view down into Glen Etive and Glen Coe is outstandingly beautiful.
