There are two different ways to hike to Burkhardtshöhe:
Either you run up the ancestral wave at the Apenteiche starting completely and follow the Rennsteig or the sign "Burkhardtshöhe 700m" shortly before the Hornser train station / Hornsen Blick.
You shouldn't miss the second hint and long trousers are absolutely recommended at the moment to make your way through the "jungle". It gets better towards the end😉.
Or you follow the Douglas fir and Rustibergweg. At the Dachsbergweg intersection, climb the (steep) zigzag path to Burkhardtshöhe.
At the top there are two benches waiting ..... unfortunately no view (unlike at Aunt Grete's bench) but a lot of peace and quiet, because there is seldom through traffic here!

Beautiful, steep single trail up to this hidden spot

A truly secluded spot! In early spring, a view is possible about 50 meters above the benches, but otherwise, the planted yew trees unfortunately block the view.
On April 25, the path from the Rennsteig was quite passable, but the serpentine path down to the Dachsbergweg is much more interesting. In wet weather, however, you must be careful on the switchbacks (danger of slipping).
