The Irminsul was the largest sanctuary for our ancestors. The home club Irmenseul set up the Irminsul replica on the Bornhöhe. It is said to have originally stood there until Charlemagne destroyed it or, according to legend, abducted it.

The Irminsäule has become an attractive destination for many hikers. Far is the view from there to Leine-Vorharzland.

Interesting story behind the pillar, three routes of different lengths (2-9 km), very good signposting, plenty of seating on the routes, and if you linger at the pillar at the end you can enjoy the lovingly prepared area (including summit book) yes, the view towards Lamspringe and Salzdetfurth is also quite chic.
