The first mention of a castle garden dates back to 1602. The area that belonged to the castle complex of the Counts of Nassau at the time was called the ‘Peacock Garden’. [...]

After numerous changes of ownership, the last decisive change to the garden took place in 1889. Dr. Heinrich von Brunck, technical director and board member of the Badische Anilin- und Sodafabrik (BASF) in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, took over the castle garden and ballroom. In this way, he elevated the castle garden to one of the most important parks in southwest Germany. [...]

In 1942, the castle garden was handed over to BASF Aktiengesellschaft as the Dr. Heinrich von Brunck Memorial Foundation. In 2006, the foundation sold the park to the city of Kirchheimbolanden. [...]“

The grave of Heinrich von Brunck (1847 - 1911) is still located in the castle garden (near the entrance at the train station).
