At the apex of the almost closed Urft loop, the Roman water pipe changes from the left to the right side of the Urft valley. At this point the Urft is now dammed by a weir. Here - probably since the early 18th century - water was available via an attached ditch
branched off to provide hydropower for the Neuwerk iron hammer built in 1710. In terms of location and orientation, this weir is identical to the location of the ancient aqueduct bridge over the Urft. It is quite conceivable that the foundations of the bridge were used when building this weir. Since the weir has been destroyed and rebuilt several times in the meantime, its Roman origins cannot be easily recognized.
