The Tralau manor house is one of the most beautiful buildings in the area due to its external appearance. The architectural style combines neo-renaissance, Gothic, and Art Nouveau with historicism. Because of this, it is often referred to as a fairytale castle.

The first settlement in the area dates back to the 12th century. An estate and castle were built on this site, whose owners changed several times in the following centuries. In addition to knights' families, various dukes also lived in the Tralau complex. The current Traulau manor house was not built until 1890. During the Second World War, the house was temporarily used as refugee accommodation and later as a retirement home. The estate was divided into plots and reduced in size several times in the post-war period.

To this day, however, the Tralau manor house is privately owned. The playful and picturesque exterior also secretly makes the manor house a castle. The surrounding gardens were created in the English style and are interspersed with bodies of water and groups of trees. This design gives Tralau Castle its romantic overall setting.

The castle can also be seen from the A21 when driving past.

The castle no longer seems to be accessible to the public, however, because there is a small sign on the access road: Private. No entry. What a pity!

There is also a very interesting video about the castle and other castles in the area that I can recommend:

Today's "Schloss" Tralau is the successor to a medieval moated castle and a two-storey manor house built at the beginning of the 19th century . The house is more of a typical Wilhelminian style villa and has a castle-like appearance. Simply great to look at. You can drive past the gate on the street
