The Edeka building was built from 1972 to 1974. Architects: Siegfried Wolske and Peter Erler. A striking element is the facade, which shows the escape balconies so exposed in light exposed concrete like no other building in City Nord. An idea that the Japanese architect Kenzo Tange first showed with the administration building of the Kawaga Prefecture in Takamatsu (1955/58). While the original facade is preserved, the interior has been extensively modernized and no longer shows the handwriting of the architects Wolske and Erler. This house has also been a listed building since 2013.

The shape of the building is simple in its construction: two L-shaped structures, which are interlaced against each other, with a narrow entrance joint in their middle. A striking element is the facade, which like no other building in City Nord shows the escape balcony so exposed in the light-colored exposed concrete.

Here the prefabricated construction becomes an aesthetic design element. This idea was originally found in the administrative building of Kawaga Prefecture in Takamatsu (Japan). The architect Kenzo Tange combined the wooden facade typical of Japan with concrete galleries on protruding beams. EDEKA applied this trick to their building.
