Guarda is a true gem in the Lower Engadine, a village seemingly straight out of a fairytale. Famous for its beautifully preserved historic houses, decorated with characteristic sgraffitos that tell local stories and traditions, it is a protected, traffic-free village. For its beauty and authenticity, it has received a prestigious award for the preservation of its architectural heritage. Guarda is also the setting for the famous children's book "Schellen-Ursli," which tells the story of the courageous young boy Ursin.

The entire village is a museum. Plan enough time to admire the pretty houses. Pay attention to details like wooden beams, door fittings, paintings, etc.

Picturesque village on a terrace overlooking the Lower Engadine (Schellenursli village). Has received the Wacker Prize for preserving the village image. Sometimes it almost looks like a museum, but is still very beautiful (building, view).
Reachable from Guarda staziun by car or small post bus (to Guarda Cumün). Easily accessible on foot or by mountain bike from Lavin or Ardez on (winter) hiking trails.
