The once dense spruce forests around the pond fell victim to the bark beetle. However, this is not the first time in its history that the old mining pond has seen the barren surroundings it currently has - and in a few years a new forest will also have grown here. When these lines are read, it may already be time 😉

This smaller (Hardebach) pond is now very open. Its dense forest near the shore has disappeared. Hopefully time heals all wounds here.
