The Ottiliae-Schacht (or Ottiliaeschacht) lies west of Clausthal-Zellerfeld on a hill between the Zellerfeld and Clausthal valleys (Bremerhöhe), which flow into the Innerste valley. The shaft is not an independent mine, but served as a central main extraction shaft for the ores (silver containing galena and zinc blende) of the Rosenhöfer, Burgstätter and Zellerfeld vein train. It is considered part of the Rosenhof pit. The shaft is named after the Prussian miner Ernst Hermann Ottiliae (1821-1904).
