    The bridge has two segmental arches, each 13.2 meters wide.
    It is constructed of facing brickwork and natural stone and features delicate cast iron railings.
    At this location, a pedestrian bridge spanned the Bleichenfleet since 1718, extending the Scheelengang Bridge. The bridge was built after the Great Fire of 1842 in 1844 and 1845 according to plans by Johann Hermann Maack.


    From 1982 to 1992, the underground Posemuckel Beer Village was located at the Bleichen Bridge. Posemuckel consisted of 13 beer taverns playing disco music, mostly Italo Disco.
