Hiking

The pond of the Heidelbacher Glashütte is really beautifully laid out. The last surviving building on this site was the former goods and production warehouse of the smelting site. Today it is a rather lonely residential building. An explanation board at the lake with pictures gives a nice impression of "back then".

Hiking

After the "Hütstad" glassworks burned down in 1634, a new glassworks complex was built in the Heidelbach valley, giving the district its name. Besides glass furnaces, the site also included glass painting and even porcelain production. Evidence of this era can be found in several museums, the largest collection being the Neuhausen Glassworks Museum.

After complaints about a shortage of wood and sales difficulties arose as early as the late 18th century, glass production in Heidelbach ceased by the mid-19th century.
