The Hinkesforstgraben runs north of Ratingen in a wooded area. Here you can take wonderful hikes or bike tours. The history of today's Hinkesforst natural forest cell goes back to the Middle Ages.

Several beautiful routes meet the Hinkesforstgraben. This is how the excellent A4 hiking trail crosses the ditch. In the further course this way leads over a fitness path in the city forest Ratingen and along the hill Stinkesberg. The large circular hiking trail is marked with an "R" and stretches along the Hinkesforstgraben through the Hinkesforst forest area. A cycle path leads from Lohausen via Angermund Castle to Hinkesforstgraben and follows it to the motorway. After crossing the railway line, two forest lines between Ratingen and Lintorf await you at the Graben.

The ditch is partly in the Hinkes Forest, to which it owes its name. In the Middle Ages, the Hinkes Forest was used for logging. In addition, pigs were fattened and wild horses were kept here. Today, the Hinkeforst natural forest cell is no longer used for forestry. The 13 hectare forest is located a little west of Ratingen in the Lower Rhine Plain. The stock of oak, ash, elm, alder and beech, among other things, ensures a pleasant climate. The area is largely flat and is only a few meters above sea level.

The Hinkesfortgraben is a narrow watercourse, along which you can wonderfully hike along small paths.
