Mountain biking

Straubing developed a special relationship with Johannes von Nepomuk. There are so many monuments to the saint that a “Nepomuk Way” has developed. It leads from St. Jakob with the chapel of the Nepomuk Brotherhood, the Nepomuk pulpit staircase and a neo-Gothic stained glass window over the Nepomuk collection of the Gäuboden Museum to the modern Nepomuk statue on the castle bridge. From there he continues along the Danube to a baroque Nepomuk statue in the place of pilgrimage Straubing-Sossau.

Johannes Nepomuk or Johannes von Pomuk was a Bohemian priest and martyr. He was in 1729 by Pope Benedict XIII. canonized. The Jesuits made him their second patron of the order in 1732. Nepomuk is considered to be the bridge saint and patron of the confessional secret.
