The consecration of the Church of St. Mauritius with companions took place in 1929. The construction of the church was only possible through an enormous effort and through manual and tension services of the population. The parish church was given its present appearance by adding a tower and consecrating a bell in the summer of 1954. In the mid-1990s, the church environment was extensively renovated and redesigned, including the adjacent Von Pflummern chapel, so that today one can speak of a harmonious environment.

Since the political community of Sassanfahrt was financially very limited, the problem of financing could only be solved when the landlord made a plot of land available for the new church and the subsequent cemetery square. On the 2nd Easter holiday in 1928, Pastor Gareis finally broke the ground. On June 14th, 1929 the altar stone was placed on the stone substructure of the high altar in the now almost completed St. Mauritius Church. The consecration of the church took place on July 21, 1929.
