Hiking
Kyrénia - Girne - is the best preserved and largest fortress building in Cyprus. Originally built by the Byzantines in the 13th century, expanded by the rulers of the Lusignan and reinforced by the Venetians in the 15th century. As Kyrénia surrendered to the Ottomans without a fight in 1570, the castle remained intact. It served as a prison during British colonial rule.
