The place is the main town of the Karpas peninsula. 1,400 people live here in winter, and 5,500 in summer. It was an Orthodox bishopric in the 13th century and is now one of the few Greek enclaves in Nprdzören. The later converted Ágios Synésios cathedral serves as a church for the congregation living here.

In the mosque I was able to watch the lessons for the boys. The mosque is open, the church only on Sundays.
