    Schuttenacker

Fresch is on the northern part of the Schellenberg and has a border crossing to the Principality of Liechtenstein. Fresch consists of the plots Oberfresch, Unterfresch, Schüttenacker and Auf der Egg.

In addition, the old paths on the Schellenberg were not in a very good condition. The steep forest path from the Nofl customs office or from the former spa up to Unterfresch was one of the main connections between Nofels and the hamlets on the Schellenberg to the west until the end of the 19th century. Smooth slabs of stone emerged from the ground and after heavy rains it was more of a stream than a trail. The other connections, the old little church path from Nofels to Fresch, also called Gässele, and the path to Schüttenacker, the Wart, were steep and bumpy. It was not until 1891 that the first road was built from the Nofels customs office to Unterfresch, followed in 1927/28 by the construction of the Neue Freschner Straße from the former Nofler fire station (Rheinstraße – Feldkircherstraße junction) to Schüttenacker and Oberfresch. During this road construction, the burned remains of the former Furtenbach noble seat were found at the foot of the Schregenberg (northernmost part of the Schellenberg). 1970, 1980 and later further improvements (enlargements) followed.

A relic from recent history - the old ski lift

In the night from May 2nd to May 3rd, 1945, around 500 soldiers of the 1st Russian National Army, an association collaborating with the Wehrmacht, fled under Major General Count Boris Smysłowsky alias Arthuro Holmston (code name) across the border of the Greater German Reich to Liechtenstein (Municipality of Schellenberg), where they received asylum.
