A circular path lined with interesting wooden sculptures stretches high above the treetops at the summit of the Schauinsland. In the direction of the Rappenecker Hütte you come to this sculpture trail.
Right at the beginning the impressive sculpture "360 degrees dream time" is enthroned. The artist and sculptor Thomas Rees from Kappel has transformed the trunk of a mighty silver fir into a mystical figure. The silver fir stood in the Freiburg city forest for over 100 years, the dry summer of 2003 hit it so hard that it dried up and had to be felled three years later. Rees has carved an impressive face into the hollow lower part of the trunk. You can sit protected like in a wing chair and dream. Not only the magnificent view from up here, but also the individual works of art, including the high wind drill, also designed by Thomas Rees, invite you to linger on the signposted path again and again. "The interplay of place, history and material determines the shape of my works, which invite you to feel, look, walk through and experience," says Rees, whose sculptures are often created intuitively and spontaneously. The 1,284 meter high Schauinsland is a popular destination in the Black Forest. About 15 kilometers from Feiburg, it can be reached quickly by car or the Schauinsland cable car, which overcomes around 750 meters in altitude. It takes about an hour for the well-developed circular route to the summit.

fabulous sculpture in a well-chosen location not far from the Schauinsland summit!
Natural, very aesthetic, artful, and by the local wood sculptor Thomas Rees
