Former mine Leonie. It was decommissioned in 1987. The former winding tower is striking. An information board provides background information.

The winding tower of the Leonie iron ore works is still standing, rising 38 metres into the air. Mining began here in 1977, and Leonie was the richest iron ore deposit in Germany. In just under ten years of operation, around five million tonnes of iron ore were mined and transported to the Maxhütte in Sulzbach-Rosenberg for smelting. In April 1987, when the Maxhütte went bankrupt, the Leonie mine was also quickly shut down, although the remaining ore deposits were estimated at 15 to 17 million tonnes. Just three weeks later, the last shift was completed. This meant that the Upper Palatinate ore mining industry was history.

Industrial monument of the former mine, closed since 1987, located on the Erzweg.

The former winding tower is one of Auerbach's landmarks.
