The so-called gate or king's hall is the only building in the monastery that has survived from the Carolingian period and, as one of the best-known examples of early medieval architecture, has made a significant contribution to the fact that the name Lorsch is a fixed term beyond the narrower regional area. Very impressive the UNESCO World Heritage!

Even if the original function of the gate hall is disputed in research (it could have been a king's hall with a hall for receptions, a library, an arch of honor or a kind of open court) - it is definitely a great photo motif 👍
