The magnificent neoclassical building on the Old Garden houses the main hall of the Mecklenburg State Theater. Since its foundation, the Mecklenburg State Orchestra has been the theater's permanent musical ensemble, the third oldest orchestra in Germany. In 1878, die-hard Wagnerians made a pilgrimage to Schwerin on special trains to experience the opera "Die Walküre" in the "Bayreuth of the North". Hiking

The historic theater, which is more than 120 years old, is located opposite Schwerin Castle. It is one of the great traditional theaters in northern Germany. Music theatre, ballet and drama, improvisation, dance and concerts are offered in the magnificent six-section house.
