In 1213 a manor was mentioned for the first time, from which a knight's seat in 1445 and a manor in 1552 emerged. In 1732 major renovations were carried out under Georg Friedrich von Buda. The last building measures in 1916/17 gave rise to the manor house in its present form. From 1925 Woldemar Erich Clauss acquired the estate. In 1950 he was expelled and the estate brought into an LPG. After reunification, Clauss got the property back and sold it to the Bockelwitz community, which had it converted into a cultural center.

The history of the manor can be traced back to the Knights of Bortewitz in the 13th/14th centuries. They were ministerials to the burgraves. Among the various owners were Melchior von Salhausen, the von Wolframsdorf family, and the von Schleinitz family. In the 18th century, the open estate was built on an almost square ground plan with a detached, two-story manor house in the Baroque style and various outbuildings. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style. Today, the renovated manor house serves as a residential residence. A small park adjoins it. The outbuildings were converted and repurposed as the village community center.
