Mont Rigi, located on the road between Eupen and Malmedy, is one of the highest points in Belgium at 675 meters and lies not far from the 694-meter-high Signal de Botrange. Its name was chosen in reference to the Swiss Mount Rigi, introduced by the then-mayor of Waimes. After the road was completed in 1856, the first inn was built here as a rest stop for travelers and horses in what was then the treeless Venn. Today, Mont Rigi is an important tourist destination and a popular starting point for hikes.

The Hotel-Restaurant Mon Rigi has a wonderful terrace with a view of the Venn. Ideally located to end a beautiful hike properly. Sun loungers are available. Service is friendly. Prices a little higher, but that's normal for Belgium.
