Right at the beginning of the path there are signposts pointing out that the stairs are broken and the path is very bad. Unfortunately there was no alternative signposted, so it's best to plan something else. We also had to walk a short distance through the forest at times because the path was so muddy and steep that it would have been too dangerous to continue on the path. If anything, it should really only be used as a climb.
