Alflen appeared for the first time in 1128 as "Alflo". The name Alflen refers to the ancient Celtic expression Alf, Alb or Albula, which is used to denote a stream or river.
Accordingly, Alflen means: settlement on the brook forest.
According to a second interpretation, the naming could also go back to a transitional dialect from Gallic and Germanic and could be interpreted as an "apple-rich place".
Alflen comes up with some highlights. It is interesting to walk through the old, narrow streets, to look at the old half-timbered houses or, as here, to linger at this old crossroads.
