The “little dwarf of the Wohnsgehaiger Hill” was created by Markus Schuster from Breitenlesau/Waischenfeld. It is intended to remind us of the legend from Franconian Switzerland about the industrious little dwarves who take over people’s work at night.

The sculpture "Dwarfs of the Wohnsgehaiger Hügel" is based on the legend of the hard-working dwarfs (from the book "Sagen Legenden und Stories from Franconian Switzerland" by Heinz Büttner). According to this, on the Wohnsgehaiger hill, deep down in a cave, there had been a small group of lively dwarfs for a long, long time. A few of them were seen here and there. The shepherd had even spoken to them now and then. They showed themselves to be very fond of good people. They avoided evil. In larger numbers they only went out at night. Many a late hiker crossed their path when they went to the village, to the field or to the forest. They looked for useful occupations everywhere. It was not uncommon for the farmer to find his work already done when he wanted to go to work in the morning... One of these creatures is now standing on the Neubürg, enjoying the view and watching over the mountain - and who knows - maybe it will also come in handy at night ...
