One of the largest and most impressive mosaic works of art in all of Germany - the so-called "Bird Staircase" was unveiled in Pirmasens, Rhineland-Palatinate. This is a unique art project realized under the direction of Chilean mosaic artist Isidora Paz-López.
Many birds are failing to maintain their species and adapt to the rapid pace of climate change. In order to draw attention to this extinction of all bird species, the mural on the bird staircase consists primarily of numerous birds, which give the staircase its new name. Mythical creatures such as a dragon or already extinct bird species such as the dodo also find a place on the tile picture. In addition to the bird motifs, the mosaic is decorated with other diverse motifs from fauna and flora. The former rock staircase in the center of Pirmasens was not only visually upgraded and transformed from a concrete block into a colorful work of art, but also conveyed a meaningful message.soudal.de/pro/mosaikkunst-pirmasens

Fascinating to look at. From a distance as if painted. From near a great, impressive mosaic.
It was created under the direction of Isidora Paz Lopez and with the help of 100 artists from 24 countries.

Beautiful mosaic by a well-known artist. Many volunteers helped without payment. The railing of the stairs doesn't quite fit my taste. Is a bit too coarse.
