Very beautiful gate of the old city wall, begun in 1332.
The gate was named after the famous Elector and Archbishop of Trier, Baldwin of Luxembourg (1307-1354), under whose direction Cochem was granted city rights and the city wall was built.

The Balduinstor is named after the Bishop of Trier, Balduin, who had the city of Cochem fortified in the 14th century after having granted it city rights.
Go through the gate and turn around to see a typical machicolation that many medieval fortifications had for defense. Here the attacker was showered with bad luck.
