Hiking
The foxhole is part of the former city wall and laid out at right angles. An intruder could never use his weapons from outside and shoot around the corner. He had to stoop and come through the gate unprotected.

Hiking
The Fuchsloch is the smallest of Cochem's city gates. This passage is built at a 90-degree angle, so if you were standing in front of the goal, you couldn't throw a spear or arrow around the corner or shoot, but had to go around the angle and then stood unarmed in front of the Cochem defenders.

From the Moselle promenade you reach Bernstrasse through the “Fuchsloch”, a passage that was once the smallest city gate in Cochem. (Wikipedia)
