The mine was built between 1900 and 1904 and was in operation until 1964. The shaft was then used as a weather and dewatering shaft and backfilled in 1990. The double headframe has been restored to its old condition and is part of the Industrial Heritage Route.

The 48 m high double strut structure of Shaft IV is visible from afar. It is considered to be the oldest scaffolding of this type in the Ruhr area and is an important monument of industrial architecture. One of the oldest electric hoisting machines in the Ruhr area is located in the adjacent machine house. Since the renovation, the building has been looked after by the Grafschafter Museum and History Association in Moers ... "
