At the end of World War II, the Wehrmacht used the Murellen Gorge as an execution site for deserters and evaders. Today, no trace of this horrific episode remains. Therefore, an art installation was created in 2002 to commemorate it.

The Argentinian artist Patricia Pinsani installed over 100 traffic mirrors in the forest. Just as such mirrors can point to initially hidden or invisible dangers in everyday traffic, the mirrors in the now peaceful forest are intended to remind us of its sad history. Texts dealing with the executions are engraved on 16 mirrors.

In March 2001, the jury decided unanimously on the design by the Berlin artist Patricia Pisani: 106 traffic mirrors were installed along the forest path from the Glockenturmstraße at the Olympiastadion to the vicinity of the shooting site behind the Waldbühne. Engraved texts on 16 mirrors provide information about what is happening in the Murellenschlucht. The remaining 90 mirrors have no text. The artist explains her installation as follows: "Just as traffic mirrors point out dangerous spots on the road, here too they are intended to show a specific situation that lies outside of the field of vision and in this way virtually refer to the repressed crimes of the Nazi justice system."
