And that was from 1530. The Thirty Years' War took a heavy toll on the castle, which is actually just a manor house. In 1627, after a long siege, it was stormed, plundered and devastated by Wallenstein. In 1643, again, this time by the Swedes. It was rebuilt, but in the 18th century the castle fell into disrepair. In the 19th century it was gradually rebuilt. The building survived the turmoil of the two world wars in the 20th century unscathed.
The castle is privately owned and not open to visitors. Part of the once magnificent garden is now a golf course.
