Edward Fewer and William Aspdin built the first shaft furnace in 1862
Lägerdorf. 150 years ago, clinker production looked like this:

Shavings and logs are placed on the lower cast steel grid in the furnace,
then a layer of coke and then a layer of dry clods
(cement raw material). Coke and clods then alternate in layers until the
filling level of seven meters is reached. Then the access and

The fire in the clods lasts 24 hours. A day of cooling off follows. Thereafter
