The "Eckernförder Lobus" in turn divided into today's Eckernförder area, taking advantage of a (according to some geologists already before the Ice Age) depth line of Eckernförde Bay in a northern ("Windebyer Noor tongue") and a southern ("Wittensee-Goossee- Tongue ") Partis tongue.
