The Plessen Viaduct is reminiscent of a tiny narrow-gauge track, built at the beginning of the 20th century, which led from Haspe via Voerde to Breckerfeld, also stopping below the Hasper dam. The Hagen suburban railway was mainly used by commuters and on the weekend by excursionists. The last train left in November 1963. A part of the railway line is now developed as a hiking and cycling track.

A great bike path that passes close to the dam at this point. The Plessen Viaduct is in the immediate vicinity of Haus Plessen, which with its beer garden invites you to linger. The Plessen stop was located above Haus Plessen, from where the small train drove up to the Spitzkehrbahnhof in Voerde, before continuing to Breckerfeld.
