Here is an old Schiessgraben, but for a long time lies fallow. From the older villagers, I learned that this was operated by the Kyffhäusern. The Kyffhäuser are an association founded by former soldiers from the First World War. In order to be prepared for the defense case, they had to train the handling of the weapon. This was possible via the Kyffhäuser. It should also have been the predecessors of today's shooting clubs, which still exists the Kyffhäuser today.

Hiking

The name derives from the fabled Kyffhäuserberg in Thuringia, on the 1896 a monument to the German Kaiser Wilhelm I was built. His duties included the support of widows and orphans. The Kyffhäuser-Bund defended itself until the end against the takeover by the National Socialists.

The powerful Kyffhäuser Association was probably the reason why no shooting club was founded in Vierhöfen. More can be read in the Vierhöferner village chronicle.
