The blueberry cross, actually a crossroad full of blueberry bushes, was actually THE blueberry area in the Einehofer Forst when I was a child. My memory shows hot summers with grandma and grandpa (I hope you watch me from the clouds 🎈❣️) and us grandchildren in the blueberries. It's been 40 years, the trees are all much bigger and the shrubs have become fewer. The picnic table is over, but at least a new bench has been donated.

But there are still blueberries in late summer!

In 1975 there was a forest fire disaster in Südheide. The extinguishing work turned out to be difficult because it was pine monoculture. As a consequence, the pine trees in the Radbrucher- / Einehofer forest were thinned and underplanted with beeches. Source: District forester Radbruch.

For better orientation for fire brigades who come to the rescue who do not know the terrain, and for emergencies, the Gellersen community has set up boulders with engraved designations at the large crossroads of the communal connecting paths, such as here: blueberry cross.

Furthermore, boulders are set up with pictograms. They mark a hiking trail, the Findlingweg.
