The Römertor, or simply “Der Römer”, is located in the old town of Lengerich and is a medieval cemetery gatehouse.
The Römer has owned the city since 1851. The building has already served as a town hall, prison, storage room or classroom, today the room on the upper floor is used as a conference room and for civil weddings.

The Roman in Lengerich. At the northeast entrance to the church square in the old town stands the Römer, one of the landmarks of the city of Lengerich. This is a gatehouse whose construction time can roughly be dated to the second quarter of the 13th century; Dates that differ greatly from this up to the 15th century are conceivable.
