    "History
The first mention of a parish church in Miltitz dates back to 1372.

The present building was built in the years 1738 to 1741, but the unusually high church tower had to be demolished again 80 years later due to collapse danger. He was replaced by a smaller one with a height of 28 meters. The three bells hang since 1840 in the tower, they still call the church for worship today. The altar from 1622, late work of the Meissen sculptor Melchior Kuntze, comes from the previous church. He depicts as a relief the sacrament and the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Jesus.

    font
The baptismal font from 1740, a special gem of wood, is waiting for its restoration; In its place, a granite baptismal font is used until further notice, which was donated during the war years. In the village church are on the south wall five grave slabs of the family von Miltitz. These plates were originally in the cemetery, later inside the old church. In 1741 it was converted into the new building. A large monument on the tower is reminiscent of three sisters of the noble family, who died at a young age within a short time of the plague.

    renovation
Since 1968, the church has undergone several restoration works both inside and outside. The organ was also thoroughly renovated. This extensive work was made possible for the greater part with donations and through the active help of the church members. Two to three services a month and traditional festivals such as B. the Jubelkonfirmation bring life to the church. Right next to the church is the northernmost chestnut tree park in Europe, which was probably created by Karl von Miltitz during the Reformation. In 2009 and 2010, Kirchort and Dorf were the scene of the filming of the film "Hunters Bride" (Der Freischütz). "

Churches are always worth a highlight. They offer hikers or bikers a place to rest and invite them to take a break.
