Also called pont de la Vierge noire, the old bridge of Seyssel is a bridge suspended over the Rhône built between 1838 and 1840. A statue of the Virgin, protector of boatmen, appears at the top of the middle pile of the bridge.
The "Pont de la Vierge noire" connects the eastern and western halves of Seyssel and thus the Haute-Savoie with the Ain department. It was built in 1838. The statue of Notre-Dame-du-Rhône can be admired on its pylon in the middle of the Rhone.
