Asolo calls himself "one of the most beautiful places in Italy". Whether that's true is an open question. A detour here is worth it anyway.
This is due to the beautiful little streets that lead here, the flower-adorned with arcades provided lanes of the place and the wonderful view down to the plain of the Veneto.

Very nice country to visit and easily reachable through the various gravel paths that go back up from the plain ... to remember a stop in the bar of the square for an excellent porchetta sandwich

The name of the place says it all: "Asolo" comes from the Latin "asylum" and means much refuge. Asolo is a peaceful town, a retreat for those who want to get away from it all. Over the years, all kinds of artists have been drawn to the picturesque town, drawing inspiration from the surrounding countryside and the soul of the town. One of them was Freya Stark, a scientist and writer. The picturesque “Villa Freya” is open to visitors today.

In addition to her, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Villa Scotti-Pasini and the Castello della Regina Cornaro are among the main sights of the city. The mighty Rocca is 15 meters high and between 2.5 and 3.5 meters wide. The defense system was built towards the end of the 12th century.
A predecessor of the cathedral already existed in the year 969. The church was given its present form in the middle of the 18th century. Inside is Lorenzo Lotto's famous painting "The Assumption of Mary".
The castle, with the clock tower visible from afar, was the seat of the city bailiffs of Venice from the mid-14th century. In 1489 it became the residence of Caterina Cornaro, wife of the King of Cyprus, whose name it still bears today. In 1798 the large auditorium in Pretoria was converted into a theatre.
