When the cemetery by the lake was soon full in the plague year of 1594, the third cemetery - today called the Old Cemetery - was planned near the wine press on the Viehmarktplatz.
Its north-western part was laid out in 1825/26 and opened in 1827.
The main entrance was then on Böblinger Strasse near Karl Ganzhorn's former saddlery. A considerable part of its area had to be given up for the construction of the Second Town Hall from 1843 to 1845.

Hiking

The old cemetery is located in the middle of the city. It exists since approx. 1600. The cemetery chapel was built 1911. The old trees and the old, partially overgrown tombstones exude calm.
