Hardly more than the name Schlossberg still reminds one of Böblingen Castle, which shaped the town silhouette of Böblingen for around three quarters of a millennium. As a fortified castle complex from the Middle Ages, as the center of courtly culture on the threshold to modern times, as a municipal school center in the middle-class era of the 19th century and as a memorial to the destruction of World War II, it was a first-rate testimony to the city's history.

A planned development of the Schloßberg is currently making waves. Some real estate lovers get a gleam in their eyes when they really “do a good job of improving” the “densification” of this room. So far - as of March 2023 - the citizens have once again been involved rather badly than properly. It is therefore not at all surprising that there is resistance to the "Schloßberg project" and that a citizens' initiative has been formed to prevent megalomaniac plans.
